Green Soup

Ingredients

  • One cup of palak leaves
  • One cup of drumstick leaves
  • One medium sized onion
  • One tomato
  • One small piece of ginger
  • 3or4 flakes of garlic
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • One cardamom
  • One clove
  • One small piece of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • One Bay leaf
  • Salt as required

Method

  1. In a piece of white cloth, pack cardamom, clove, cinnamon, fennel seeds, bay leaf and tie the bundle with a small thread .
  2. In a pan, boil palak leaves, drumstick leaves, onion, tomato, ginger and garlic along with masala bundle till they get cooked.
  3. Allow them to cool.
  4. Remove the masala bundle and grind the cooked palak in a mixer.
  5. Strain the mixture and add salt, pepper and enough water.
  6. Boil the mixture for 5 minutes.

Serve hot with whole wheat bread.

Sprouted Green Gram Soup – A Healthy Appetizer

Sprouted Green Gram is something which you will like to have during any time of the day. It is very easy to make and appeases hunger very well. Since this soup contains no corn flour and toned milk ,it has less calories.

  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Tomato
  • 3 Garlic Flakes
  • I small piece of Ginger
  • 2 tsp Sprouted Green Gram
  • 1 tsp Fresh Cream ( Optional)
  • Salt and Pepper for taste
  • 1 small cup of toned milk

  1. Add chopped ginger, garlic, onion, tomato along with the sprouted green gram in sufficient quantity of water in a pressure cooker.
  2. Allow it to cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the pressure cooker from gas burner and allow the ingredients to cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Grind the ingredients in a mixer.
  5. Pour the contents from the mixer in a cooking vessel.
  6. Add some water to dilute the contents from the mixture.
  7. Add salt & pepper depending on taste.
  8. Allow the contents to boil for 5 minutes.
  9. Add one small cup of toned milk and boil for 2 minutes.
  10. Garnish the soup with fresh cream and serve hot.

Some Quick Tips

Vegetables like cabbage, carrot,beans, cauliflower or palak leaves can be added before cooking the ingredients
